Community Impact

We believe sports have the power to transform lives. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the St. Louis SLAM Women’s Tackle Football Team uses football as a catalyst for confidence, connection, and growth—empowering women, inspiring youth, and uplifting families to dream big and reach high.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to empower the development of and well-being of women, youth and families within our community, with a particular focus on service, fitness, health, and education. We believe engaging in sports helps build character, teamwork, integrity, dedication, and courage. We seek to inspire women and youth to become better leaders and teammates in their respective communities, families, teams, schools, corporations, and the various teams they will be a part of in life.

Playing for the Future

The SLAM Organization provides the opportunity for a diverse group of women to participate in a sport once played exclusively by men.  Women of all ages, races, religions, cultures, and physical talents are encouraged to tryout and play.  The only requirement is a passion for and a desire to play football.  The SLAM coaching staff and general managers recognize the importance of providing a quality experience for SLAM players.

As little girls, we grew up longing to play a sport that we watched our brothers play and our fathers coach.  When we asked if we could play we were told “no.”  Today, if a young girl asks her mother “will I be able to play football?”  The answer will be an enthusiastic “Yes!”  Football is a sport that allows women to hit hard, run fast, and develop a mentally tough psyche.  Football also requires year round conditioning and strength training of the body and mind of all body types, heights, and weights.

Community Outreach

SLAM players are committed to making a difference beyond the field through year-round community engagement across the St. Louis region. Our efforts include youth camps and clinics, school and youth organization visits, Girls in Sports Night, and halftime flag football scrimmages that encourage participation and leadership through athletics. These programs create access, visibility, and positive experiences for young athletes while strengthening connections within our community.

The SLAM also supports important causes throughout St. Louis, including serving as an honorary chair for the 2025 St. Jude Walk, fundraising during home games, hosting cancer awareness fundraisers, and organizing supply drives and volunteer efforts following the 2025 tornado. Through every practice, game, and outreach event, we are driven by a shared passion for football and a responsibility to use our platform to create meaningful, lasting impact.
